Plan meals, manage recipes, and track household inventory in one place.

Meals is a top-level Berg mode with three tabs: Meal Plan, Recipes, and Inventory. It brings food planning into the same shared household system as the rest of the app.

Overview

Meals lives in Berg’s top-left menu as its own mode. Inside it, the tab bar is split into:

Meal Plan: date-based planning for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Recipes: a shared household recipe library.
Inventory: pantry, fridge, freezer, and other storage tracking.

Meals is part of the current product

This section is no longer just a placeholder. The live app now includes working meal planning, recipe management, and inventory screens.

Meal Plan

The Meal Plan tab mirrors Berg’s Calendar navigation so it feels familiar right away.

Switch between Year, Month, Week, and Day.
Use Today to jump back to the current date.
Plan meals by slot: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Open Day or Week views when you want the clearest planning detail.

Add a Meal

Admins can use the plus button in Meal Plan to add or edit a meal entry.

Choose the date.
Choose the meal slot.
Select Use Recipe or Manual Meal.
Optionally add servings and notes.
Save the meal.

Recipe-backed meals are especially useful

When a meal uses a household recipe, Berg can use those ingredients later during shopping-list generation.

Recipes

The Recipes tab is a shared library for reusable meals your household makes often.

Search recipes by title or summary.
Filter recipes with curated tags.
Store title, summary, servings, instructions, and ingredient rows.
Tap a recipe to edit it if you are an admin.

Inventory

Inventory tracks what the household already has on hand and where it is stored.

Filter by locations like Pantry, Fridge, Freezer, Spice Cabinet, and Garage / Overflow.
Search by item name, quantity, or location.
Store quantity text, location, and optional expiration dates.
See expired and expiring-soon states directly in the list.

Send Ingredients to Shopping Lists

In Meal Plan, Berg can generate shopping candidates from recipe ingredients for the selected day or week.

Open Meal Plan in Day or Week view.
Tap the cart button.
Review the proposed ingredients.
Keep or change the suggested shopping-list destination.
Add the selected items.

Permissions

Household members can view shared meal plans, recipes, and inventory.
Admins see the add and edit controls for meal entries, recipes, and inventory items.
Shopping-list generation follows the same shared-household model as the rest of Berg.
