This policy explains how Berg App handles account data, household information, user content, operational data, and privacy requests across the app and supporting services.
Before publication, replace the final legal entity name and mailing address. Support and privacy aliases are already live.
Scope
This policy applies to the Berg App mobile app, related authentication flows, public support and legal pages, and the hosted backend services required to operate the product.
Information We Collect
- Account and identity information such as email address, sign-in provider, account identifiers, first name, last name, and date of birth.
- Household information such as household name, member role, invite codes, and profile details shared within a household.
- User-generated content such as calendar items, reminders, shopping lists, chores, and related notes or metadata.
- Technical and service information such as device information, app version, session metadata, error logs, and security-related authentication records.
How We Collect Information
- Directly from users when they sign in, complete setup, create or edit content, or contact support.
- Directly from users when they join the waitlist or request launch and beta updates.
- From the authentication method a user chooses, including email magic link, Google, Facebook, and later Apple.
- From service providers that host, secure, or support Berg App’s backend and authentication systems.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate users and protect account security.
- Create and manage household membership.
- Provide sync, storage, and shared household features.
- Send launch, beta, and product updates that users explicitly request.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the service.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce product terms, policies, and security controls.
Berg App does not use personal information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Authentication Providers
When a user signs in with a third-party provider, Berg App receives the information that provider shares for authentication and account setup. Depending on the provider and the permissions granted, this may include name, email address, and provider account identifiers.
Most providers do not share date-of-birth information by default. If date of birth is not supplied, Berg App may ask the user to provide it during setup.
Household Sharing
Berg App is designed for shared household use. Information entered into household features may be visible to other members of the same household when that visibility is part of the core product experience.
Sharing With Service Providers
Berg App may disclose personal information to service providers that help run the product, such as hosted authentication and database providers, infrastructure and hosting vendors, and customer support, security, or operational service providers when needed.
Berg App expects service providers to handle personal information in a way that is consistent with applicable law and contractual obligations.
Legal Disclosures
Berg App may disclose information if required by law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or integrity of the service, its users, or others.
Data Retention
Berg App retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security and operational records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Berg App supports self-service account deletion for pre-setup accounts, single-member households, and multi-member households, including successor-admin handling when required.
User Choices and Controls
- Sign out of the app.
- Connect supported sign-in methods to the same account over time.
- Request account deletion from within the app.
- Use the public account deletion page for instructions and support routing.
Children
Berg App is for household coordination. If Berg App is marketed to children or knowingly collects personal information from children in ways that trigger child-specific legal requirements such as COPPA, the product and policy will need additional parental notice, consent, and age-appropriate controls before release.
Security
Berg App uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
International Transfers
If Berg App operates across borders, personal information may be processed in countries other than the user’s own, subject to applicable safeguards and legal requirements.
Changes to This Policy
Berg App may update this policy from time to time. When material changes are made, Berg App will update the effective date and provide additional notice where required.
